Chris and I would like to try photographing salamanders this year. I realize a lot of shots of salamanders and newts are photographed using flash. I tried photographing salamanders last year using natural light and quickly realized why; the conditions they prefer are dark and moist. What sort of flash and lens setup would you recommend for photographing salamanders? Is ring flash best? I would prefer a setup that does not look "over flashed" - one that does not produce hard shadows or bright highlights off the salamanders' shiny skin. What other tips do you have for photographing salamanders?
Any help will be apprecited.
I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
